The ITA Awards » GR8! Women Achiever Awards
Headline: The 2nd Whirlpool GR8! Women Achievers 2005
Year : 2005
Location : Delhi - Sri Fort auditorium
The Event
A continuation of the celebration of Indian womanhood… The festivities will begin with a mega event in New Delhi for the first time, at the Siri Fort Auditorium, on February 18, 2005. Star Plus will be telecasting the program on Saturday, March 5, 2005.

The logo for the event (shown above) embodies the relationship that Whirlpool & GR8! have with the Indian woman… it shows a woman reaching out to the sky, her partners Whirlpool & GR8! supporting her rise and felicitating her. The byline recognizes the potential of the Indian woman as an achiever at home and beyond.

The categories being covered this year are: Beauty, Cinema, Corporate, Dance, Entrepreneurship, Fashion & Style, Finance & Banking, Fine Arts (Painting, Sculpting, Pottery etc), Journalism (Print/Electronic/Other), Law, Literature, Medicine / Healthcare, Music, Politics, Science & Technology, Social Services, Sports, Television, Young Achiever (below 18 years), Pride of India and Best "Home-Maker".

The list of nominees includes achievers like Rani Mukherjee, Preity Zinta, Lara Dutta, Priyanka Chopra, Indu Jain, Shobhana Bharatiya, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Alka Yagnik, Kishori Amonkar, Anjali Bhagwat, Anju George, Lalita Gupte and Chanda Kocchar (the full list of categories and nominees is also attached).

There are 3-5 nominees in each category. These have been arrived at after an exhaustive process undertaken by reputed Market Research agency, Eikona. The final winners in each category will be decided by a jury who are newsmakers in their own right - Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Neelam Kapoor, Shatrughan Sinha, Mahesh Bhat, Rajdeep Sardesai, Rajat Sharma, Kapil Dev, Anu Ranjan.

Anu Ranjan, Publisher GR8 “ says..”I am proud that the Event is larger than last year’s, and growing all the time. The Categories continue to cover all fields, of course, but more people have participated with their votes. And the Venue itself is bigger – Siri Fort Auditorium in New Delhi.
The growth of the Event is indicative of the fact that we are fulfilling a universally-felt need – everyone wanted to applaud the women around them, but did not have a platform to do so. The Whirlpool GR8! Women’s Awards has provided that opportunity.
“As Women conquer newer and more fields, GR8! Will always be at hand to recognise, award, encourage them.”
Shashi Ranjan, Publisher GR8! Says..“There has never been any question that Women have always been Achievers and that their Achievements needed to be lauded. But, I think, what the Whirlpool GR8! Women’s Awards has achieved, is something a bit more than just recognising Women for their successes.
“The Awards are completely transparent. And the judges are pre-eminent personalities in their respective areas. Because of the stringent screening and judging process, the Awards have an integrity and intrinsic value that make them worth winning. The Awards are not the result of the whims of a few people – they stem from the judgement of knowledgeable and successful people.”

Arvind Mediratta, Vice President Marketing, Whirlpool of India said – “The Whirlpool GR8! Women Awards recognise the achievements of Indian women at home and in the outside world. The awards are a perfect fit with our core Target Audience of modern, contemporary Indian women who have an existence beyond home and hearth. We are proud to be the first to institute awards for Indian women across such a wide variety of fields. The 2nd Whirlpool GR8! Awards also coincide with us celebrating the completion of 10 years of successful presence in India, therefore the awards have an added significance for us this year. ”
